I know it’s only a matter of time before my laptop is obsolete (for all I know it already is) and I’ll be forced to choose between buying a new one or upgrading it. Any tech savvy people out there know how much it’ll cost to have my laptop upgraded (more RAM, better graphics card, additional processors etc) and repainted (the silver paint on the mouse pad and button has kind of chipped off). I’m into gaming so I’m not sure whether I’d just be better off buying a gaming computer. Unfortunately I’m kind of attached to my laptop. It was my eighteenth birthday present. So should I upgrade eventually or say goodbye when a better laptop comes onto the market? Would my warranty cover an upgrade if I chose to do so? Probably not but I’m not sure. Any lengthy and informative answers would be most appreciated. Thank you.
Upgrading the integrated graphic card alone would amount to the cost of a new laptop.Laptops are very expensive to upgrade and often it is better to purchase a new one.Happy shopping.
try Amazon Black Friday deals, they start early this year
i am currently running a 32bit windows 7 OS and i have been for ages. i am a pretty hardcore PC gamer, and try to upgrade my computer as much as possible for better performance, but obviously wanting more RAM ive run into a bit of a problem because i can only have like 3gb. im just wondering if i would have to wipe my whole hard drive? like will i loose all my games and content on my computer? and how would i even install or get 64 bit?sorry to rant
thanks xxxx
You will need to get a 64bit OS disk as this is the only way. You could do a upgrade but you will need to reinstall your games and devices.
you have to buy a windows 64bit then install it and then buy the ram you wanna to.
The first question is obvious, do you have a 64 bit system, if not then don’t even try to install a 64bit OS. If you do have a 64bit system you shouldn’t be running a 32bit OS on it in the first place, clean install it to 64bit and max upgrade the ram for better performance.
You can’t "install" 64 bit, you have to have a 64 bit processor.if you have that then buy windows 7 64 bit edition and upgrade….your hard drive has nothing to do with 64 bit..
i upgraded from 32 bit vista to 64 bit for the same reason, i found i did not lose files, however i think one or two programs had to be reinstalled, but there were better 64bit versions i could get then anyway.Just boot from the DVD and uninstall/reinstall whatever.you will also have to make sure your processor and motherboard are 64bit compatible otherwise you can’t do it.
You can’t just go from 32-bit to 64-bit. You have to install a 64-bit OS in your computer.
1. Your processor has to support 64 bit OS.2. Your motherboard has to support a 64 bit Processor.3. You have to purchase the 64 bit version of Windows 7That being said.4. You can save your data and hard drive and import it into a your new install. Just back the data (saved files, saved games, settings, config files etc….) up to a flash drive or some other medium (another disk, CD/DVD-R). Once you have the new OS installed you can just copy this data back. Yes you will lose anything you’ve installed, but if you have the install disc and license for it, you can easily reinstall the programs you just wippedCheck to make sure that your processor/motherboard both support a 64bit processor before you try to install the newer OS. If they do support these changes, I would suggest instead of a wipe/install just buying a new HD and installing the OS to the new Drive and use your existing drive as a backup drive and copy the files off.
There’s no upgrade option from 32 to 64 bit. You’d need a complete reinstallation including all software and games. To get 64 bit, you can use your 32 bit Windows serial. The keys are exchangeable between 32 and 64 bit. You’d also need a setup disk, which you can download from a safe and legit source here:
i have an acer laptop 2010 and i have the microsoft office word 2010 andd i had to upgrade it so i entered the product key and somehow it locked out. so i downloaded a free trial from microsoft website and it wont let me open it it says "microsoft word requires the file msointl.dll to fun. run set up again to assure proper installation" i tried uninstalling it but it shuts off my computer right away what do i do ?!?!?
It is very frustrating. Two things can help you in this regard i-e Reinstall it and download system cleaner Reginout to fix your problems. Your problem will be resolved.
I have always had just a "run of the mill" cell phone. We are considering upgrading to smart phones and need some serious phone education. Just gonna throw out the questions I have and hope: #1 they make sense (lol) and #2 that someone can answer them for me
1.) Do only the Iphones have apps or can you buy apps for other smart phones2.) If I want to use my phone to give internet service to my computer, how do I do that? Do I have to buy the "hot spot box" or will the phone have the capability to do that without a box????3.) Is the Iphone the "best choice" or does anyone have something else they recommend?4.) Any additional information you can provide would be GREAT!!!!
1 – no. Nokias have ovi store. Androids have the android market and windows phones have their own market too. The difference is, iphones restrict their owners, they can only download from their app store. All other phones let their owners download apps from other websites.2 – nokia symbian phones have the simplest tethering solution, u simply buy an app named joikuspot for a one off payment ($12 au) and thats it. With androids u have to tinker with the phone and im not sure about the other two.3 – most definitely not, tho their owners like to think so. There are many high end android phones that are better, such as the samsung galaxy s2 and the motorola atrix, and many high end nokia phones that are better, such as the n8, e7, and lumia 800. U can google these phones individually to find out their specifications.4 – well, if u are going to ask here, its best to state what u need ur phone to do for u, otherwise everyone will tell u their phone is the best. And seeing as there are hundreds of phones out there, it can get confusing if u dont know what u want.I have a nokia n8. To me its the greatest phone in the world because it does everything ive always wanted a phone to do, and it does it brilliantly. But ur needs may be different. U need to also work out if u are buying a phone outright, unlocked, so u can use it with any network, or are u staying with a specific service provider, in which case they have specific phones for u to choose from on prepaid or post-paid contracts.Without giving these details, u may get a bunch of unsuitable suggestions.Hope that helped alittle.

Decent gaming. Probably Crysis 2 on medium settings
That’s to much money for that crappy machine. If you know how to install graphic card and RAM why not building the pc by yourself? Here’s the link:
i have a windows 7,idk if it matters..
No, it doesn’t. What does matter is your motherboard, current video card, current CPU, and what you’re able to spend, because there’s no way to tell how much it’s going to cost just by saying that you have "a Windows 7", which isn’t even correct anyway. You have a computer running Windows 7, which is an operating system. There is no such thing as "a Windows 7".
depends on what your looking for. an i7 proccesor (the best from intel) can be expensive. intels i proccesor series is $130-$1000
It depend on what your motherboard and power supply can support. A Good quad core AMD cpu can go for 100-200 dollar. Good video card are usually 100+ but be sure that your power supply can handle the card and CPU. Also be sure to have good air flow in your computer case or else you’ll be having overheating problems.
If you have an older system, forget it, any practical "upgrade" would be a total replacement. For a recent system, $200 to 300 for a CPU, $130 to $170 for a Mobo$100 for a PSU$200 for GFX$50 to $100 for RAM$150 to $200 for 120GB SSD $150 to $200 for 1TB hard drive (watch prices due to Thailand flood).
